This side was recorded in New York City on May 5th 1919 by the "Louisiana Five" featuring Alcide "Yellow" Nunez clarinet, Charlie Panelli trombone, Karl Berger banjo, Joe Cawley piano, and Anton Lada drums.

*"Dixie Blues" was composed by Anton Lada, Yellow Nunez, and Joe Cawley.

The "Louisiana Five" were among the first jazz groups to record following the "Original Dixieland Jass Band's" February 1917 debut.

New Orleans born clarinetist Alcide "Yellow" Nunez had originally been a member of the "Original Dixieland Jass Band" in Chicago back in 1916 before he was replaced by Larry Shields.

He went on to win in a law suite for the writers credit to "Livery Stable Blues" following his departure from the group.
