Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1964 Jon-Erik Kellso began his career in music young performing with his first big band at age 11, in the "International Youth Symphony" by age 13. A trumpeter heavily influenced by the style of Louis Armstrong at 17 he found himself playing alongside Wild Bill Davison before going on to work with the Orchestra of J.C. Heard. In 1988 Jon-Erik joined "James Dapogny's Chicago Jazz Band" with whom he would tour the United States. Over the years this decidedly vintage jazz horn virtuoso has shared the stage with the likes of Marty Grosz, Dan Barrett, Milt Hinton, Bob Haggart, Dick Hyman, Catherine Russell, Wynton Marsalis, Bob Wilbur, and Kenny Davern to name a few.
