Recorded in New York City on May 25th 1929 featuring Leonard Davis and Sidney De Paris trumpets, George Stevenson trombone, Ben Whittet and Benny Waters clarinet & alto sax, Edgar Sampson violin & alto sax, Charlie Johnson piano & director, Bobby Johnson banjo, Billy Taylor tuba, and George Stafford drums.

Charlie Johnson led his "Paradise Ten" Orchestra from 1925 until 1938. Named for Small's Paradise a Harlem night club were they were employed the band would stop performing at "Small's" following a ten year residency in 1935.
Achieving greater fame later in his career saxophonist Benny Waters got his start with "Johnson's Paradise Ten" before going on to join bands led by Fletcher Henderson, Claude Hopkins, and Jimmy Lunceford.
