Original Charleston Strut
Thomas Morris Past Jazz Masters
Feat. Bubber Miley
This side was cut in New York City during February of 1923 by "Thomas Morris Past Jazz Masters" consisting of Thomas Morris cornet, Bubber Miley second cornet, Charlie Irvis trombone, and Sam Speed banjo, with unknown piano, tenor sax, tuba, & drums.
*"Original Charleston Strut" was composed by Thomas Morris.
On this historic 1923 recording Bubber Miley is captured playing understudy to New York City's cornet icon Thomas Morris. Working together in a capacity similar to that of Louis Armstrong & King Oliver the pair definitely prove themselves worthy of praise. Morris' primitive horn style was in common use in The Big Apple before the explosive introduction of Louis Armstrong.
