Recorded in New York City on September 24th 1919 featuring Russell Smith trumpets, Arthur Reeves trombones,
Wilbur Sweatman clarinet & leader, unknown alto sax, Dan Parish piano, ? Jerome 'Romy' Jones bass brass, and Henry Bowser drums.

*"I Ain't Gonna Give Nobody None Of This Jellyroll" was composed by Clarence and Spencer Williams.

Introducing: "Just Leave It To Me" by Maceo Pinkard as the incidental chorus.

Published in 1919, Williams and Williams' "Jellyroll" went on to be a popular jazz standard
commonly performed with lyrics by a long list of prominent female vocalist.

This is one of the sessions on which 'Romy' Jones doesn't appear, according to Rust. Having listened to most of these early recordings, the grand piano is always quite close to the horn and so well up in the balance so it is very difficult to hear whether or not a separate brass bass is present. As the trombone often doubles the piano bass-line as well it is sometimes almost impossible to tell. On this track I am apt to agree about the lack of a tuba. -Henry Davis
