This recording was produced in New York City on September 24th 1929 with Victoria Spivey vocals, accompanied by Henry "Red" Allen trumpet & leader, J C Higginbotham trombone, Albert Nicholas clarinet, Charlie Holmes clarinet & alto sax, Teddy Hill clarinet & tenor sax, Luis Russell piano, Will Johnson banjo, Pops Foster string bass, and Paul Barbarin drums.

*"How Do You Do It That Way?" was composed by Victoria Spivey and Reuben Floyd.

Vitoria Spivey's first husband, trumpeter Reuben Floyd reportedly wrote this song's melody for her as a wedding present.

According to the story shortly before they were married Victoria was sitting on the porch of her home with Reuben one afternoon watching a rooster and a hen in the yard. The birds odd behavior caused Victoria to ask "How Do They Do It That Way?" Inspired, it was then that the couple started to write verses for their 'accidental' future hit.

Following his time married to Victoria, Reuben Floyd vanished into obscurity.
