This sound recording featuring Arthur Collins and Byron Harlan was produced on November 8th 1916. It was issued on Edison Blue Amberol wax cylinder, but not until April 1917. Although the "Original Dixieland Jazz Band's" February 26th 1917 recording "Livery Stable Blues" is generally considered to be the first Jazz record, a case could be made for this title from "Collins & Harlan".

*Arthur Collins and Byron G. Harlan formed a popular comic duo popular from the early 1900's well into the 1920's.

They sang ragtime standards and what were known as "Coon songs", or songs sung by white performers in a black dialect.
