"Hello Blossom"

This excerpt from the Vitaphone short "Blossom Seeley and Benny Fields" filmed during July 1928 features Blossom Seeley and Benny Fields vocals, accompanied by Charles Bourne and Phil Ellis on piano (billed as the Music Boxes).

The vaudeville team of Blossom Seeley and Benny Fields played some of New York's most prominent musical venues including the Palace Theater during its golden era and they always had the number-one spot, even when sharing the bill with such stars as Jack Benny, George Burns and Gracie Allen, or George Jessel. Another popular act of the day "Burns & Allen" would remain the couple's closest lifelong friends. In 1928 "Seeley & Fields" starred in one of the very first Vitaphone sound shorts "Blossom Seeley and Benny Fields" featuring Blossom's sensational introduction to the song *"Hello, Bluebird" written by Cliff Friend. Years later this song was re-popularized when it was sung by Judy Garland in the movie "I Could Go On Singing". In 1952 the story of their marriage and career was made into the motion picture "Somebody Loves Me" starring Betty Hutton and Ralph Meeker. The film revived their careers leading to a memorable string of TV appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show".
