Recorded in New York City on July 5th 1929 featuring performers including Al Shayne vocals, Irving Mills violin & director, Tommy Dorsey trombone, Tony Parenti clarinet & alto sax, and Larry Abbott clarinet & alto sax.
*"Moanin' Low" was composed by Ralph Rainger, with lyrics by Howard Dietz.
The song was first introduced by Libby Holman in Dietz & Rainger's 1929 musical "The Little Show".
This theatrical production debuted at New York's Music Box Theater on April 30th 1929.
The "Merry Maker's" were a favorite among Irving Mills' many studio bands.
Vocalist Al Shayne was also well known on record for his work with the "Ben Selvin Orchestra" in 1928 and "Jimmy McHugh's Bostonians" circa 1930, before going on to pursue a solo recording career during the early '30's.
