By the time of this title's 1925 release "Sonny Clay's Plantation Orchestra" had achieved National fame through the magic of radio. The colored pianist's arrangements were also used to great acclaim by white Los Angeles trumpeter bandleader Herb Wiedoeft furthering his fame.
Due to the heightened exposure this Vocalion release sold more than eight-thousand copies in Chicago alone on its first day of sales.
