Recorded in New York City on September 18th 1929 featuring Smith Ballew vocals, Andy Secrest cornet, Charlie Margulis trumpet, Bill Rank trombone, Frank Trumbauer director, c-melody, & alto sax, Chester Hazlett alto sax, Irving Friedman clarinet & tenor sax, Lennie Hayton piano, Matty Malneck violin, Snoozer Quinn guitar, Min Leibrook bass sax, and George Marsh drums.

*"How Am I To Know?" was composed by Jack King, with lyrics by Dorothy Parker.

Smith Ballew (or "Buddy Blue" as he was sometimes billed) started his singing career on the radio while attending the University of Texas and, after relocating in the late '20's, reached super-stardom as one of the most prominent crooners on New York music scene. Ballew soon became a frequent used vocalist on hundreds of recordings by various jazz band's and dance orchestras alike. The singer would become known particularly for his tremendously adept abilities well suited for the more somber of songs, thus explaining his pseudonym "Buddy Blue".
