St. Louis Man
Dixie Four
Feat. Jimmy Blythe
Recorded in Chicago during June of 1928 with Jimmy Blythe piano, W E Burton piano & vocals, Bill Johnson string bass, and Marcus Norman drums & washboard.
*"St. Louis Man" was composed by Clarence Johnson.
Jimmy Blythe leads this quartet in a rhythmically tantalizing rendition of a tune composed by his dear friend and fellow pianist Clarence Johnson. The two pianists had worked together making player-piano rolls for the Capitol Music Roll Company ever since the early 1920's.
