Recorded in Chicago on October 10th 1928 with Jimmy Wade cornet & director, Punch Miller cornet & vocals, Charles Lawson trombone, Arnett Nelson and Charles Johnson clarinet, alto, & tenor sax, Alex Hill piano & arranger, Charlie Jackson banjo, Stanley Wilson sousaphone, Cliff Jones drums & kazoo.
*"Gates Blues" was composed by Jimmy Wade.
Trumpeter and bandleader Jimmy Wade toured the states of California and Washington with Lucille Hegamin and later accompanied her to New York before returning to Chicago in 1922. There he worked as a member of "Doc Cook's Dreamland Orchestra" before forming his own "Syncopators". This group would include violinist Eddie South who played in this ensemble from 1924 until he left to organize his own group in 1927. Stanley Wilson was a multi-instrumentalist who also played banjo in "Cook's Dreamland Orchestra" in addition to being a violin and saxophonist with several other bands. By far two of the most important players to ever pass through Jimmy Wade's' band were trumpeter Punch Miller, and composer/arranger giant, pianist Alex Hill.
