Bring Back The Joys
Alberta Hunter
Voice of the Jazz Age
This recording was produced in New York City during May of 1921 featuring Alberta Hunter vocals, accompanied by Howard Scott trumpet, Chick Johnson trombone, Fletcher Henderson piano & leader, with unknown tuba, clarinet, & tenor sax.
Alberta Hunter first toured Europe in 1917, performing in Paris and London. The Europeans made a great impression on her treating her as an artist and showing her respect and even reverence. Her career as singer and songwriter flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, and she appeared in clubs and on stage in musicals in both New York and London. Hunter cut records prolifically during the 1920s, recording for the Black Swan label in 1921.
