Don't Ever Leave Me
Roger Wolfe Kahn and his Orchestra
From Broadway's "Sweet Adeline"
This recording was produced in New York City during November of 1929 featuring personnel including Roger Wolfe Kahn director, and Scrappy Lambert vocals.
*"Don't Ever Leave Me" was composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The Fox Trot debuted in the 1929 Broadway comedy "Sweet Adeline."
"Sweet Adeline" was set in the 1890's and concerned the story of a New Jersey girl who, unlucky in love, becomes a Broadway star. Unfortunately opening just before the stock market crash it received rare reviews. Another reason for it's lack of popularity was the show's old-fashioned setting, a step back from the innovations of "Showboat" (1927).
