This side was recorded in New York City on May 13th 1925 with Red Nichols trumpet, Tommy Dorsey trombone, Bobby Davis clarinet, Arnold Brilhart clarinet & alto sax, Irving Brodsky piano, Tommy Felline banjo, Adrian Rollini bass sax, and Stan King drums.
The "Varsity Eight" was a pseudonym for the "California Ramblers."
*"Charleston" was composed in 1923, with music by James P. Johnson and lyrics by Cecil Mack.
The song was originally featured in the all black Broadway musical comedy "Runnin' Wild".
