Feat. Coleman Hawkins

Recorded in New York City on June 30th 1931 featuring Red McKenzie comb & vocals, Muggsy Spanier cornet, Jimmy Dorsey clarinet & alto sax, Coleman Hawkins tenor sax, Jack Russin piano, Eddie Condon banjo, Jack Bland guitar, Al Morgan string bass, and Josh Billings drums.

*"I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me" was composed by Jimmy McHugh, with lyrics written by Clarence Gaskill.

Muggsy Spanier and Jimmy Dorsey team up with the fat tenor saxophone sound of Coleman Hawkins to accompany the deep rich voice of Red McKenzie as "The Celestial Beings" for a spectacular 1931 recorded rendition of this 1926 love ballad. Also featured on this side are Jack Russin, Jack Bland guitar, and Josh Billings of "Mound City Blue Blowers" fame. On this fine record it does seem a little silly that McKenzie is allowed a solo break when Muggsy Spanier is not.
