At The Jazz Band Ball
Bobby Hackett & His Boys
"Saturday Evening Swing Club"
This footage from the 1938 show "Saturday Evening Swing Club" features Bobby Hackett trumpet, and his "Boys", including Pee Wee Russell clarinet, and George Brunies trombone, and Eddie Condon playing four-string guitar.
Bobby Hackett's group recapture the classic jazz sound boasting a number of popular big name jazz men of the 1920's. An animated George Brunies dances as he plays, even squeezing in a couple of steps between parts. The tune is a standard written and originally recorded in 1917 by the "Original Dixieland Jazz Band".
