She Belongs To Me Blues
"Papa" Charlie Jackson
"Papa" Charlie's Banjo
Recorded in Chicago in March of 1927 featuring "Papa" Charlie Jackson six-string banjo & vocals, with a second Unknown banjo player. -This track was released as the flip side of "Coal Man Blues" which also incorporates the unknown banjo.
"Papa" Charlie Jackson typically accompanied himself with a banjo-guitar hybrid. This six-string banjo was popular for a brief period during the early 1920's as a transitional instrument among banjoists who wished to switch to the increasingly more popular guitar.
By the end of the 1930's the guitar would all but replace the banjo in most jazz and big band assemblies.
