Shake That Thing
"Papa" Charlie Jackson
"Father of Hokum"
Recorded in Chicago during May of 1925 featuring "Papa" Charlie Jackson six-string banjo & vocals.
*"Shake That Thing" was written by Charlie Jackson.
This light hearted dance tune predates the "Hokum" craze of the late 1920's, and pretty much established "Papa" Charlie Jackson as the "Father of Hokum". The novelty song rapidly became one of his greatest hits.
