This record was cut in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 23rd 1925 by the "Original Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra" featuring Papa Celestin cornet & leader, 'Kid Shots' Madison cornet, William Ridgley trombone, Willard Thoumy clarinet & alto sax, unknown tenor sax, Manuel Manetta piano, John Marrero banjo, Simon Marrero string bass, and Abby Foster drums & whistle.

*"Original Tuxedo Rag" was composed by Papa Celestin.

Oscar 'Papa' Celestin became a member of Henry Allen Sr.'s (Henry Red Allen's father) "Excelsior Band" in 1908 before forming this group, named for the "Tuxedo Dance Hall" in New Orleans where they played from 1910 until 1913 when the establishment was closed due to a shooting.

Celestin was a key figure in the development of jazz early on responsible for giving many 1920's jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong, Johnny St Cyr, and Zutty Singleton their start playing in his bands.
