Feat. Paul Barnes
This recording was produced in New Orleans on April 13th 1926 featuring Oscar Celestin cornet, August Rousseau trombone, Paul Barnes clarinet & alto sax, Earl Pierson tenor sax, Jeanette Salvant piano, John Marrero banjo, and Abby Foster drums.
*"Give Me Some More" was composed by Paul Barnes.
Leader of one of the most prominent early New Orleans jazz bands Oscar "Papa" Celestin" heads his famous group the "Original Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra" through a haunting slow number penned by their clarinetist. -Paul Barns was also responsible for writing the Celestin hit "My Josephine".
The assembly was formed in 1910 as the house band for the Tuxedo Dance Hall on North Franklin St. located in New Orleans' French Quarter and kept the name after the club was closed due to a 1913 shooting. This assembly would later became known as the "Tuxedo Brass Band", the group from whence the currently active "Young Tuxedo Brass Band" derived their name.
