Billed as the "Red-Headed Music Maker", Wendell Hall was a singer and ukulele player born in St. George, Kansas on August 23rd 1896. In 1922 his professional career began in Chicago as a song plugger. The following year Hall scored success with a recording of his original "It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo'". The song became an enormous hit in Great Britain selling over two million copies and remained at number one for six weeks on the U.S. charts.
