So is Your Old Lady
Original Indiana Five
Feat. Pete Pelizzi
Recorded in New York City on April 9th 1926 featuring James Christie trumpet, Pete Pelizzi trombone, Nick Vitalo clarinet, Johnny Costello alto sax, Harry Ford piano, Tony Colucci banjo, and Tom Morton drums.
*"So is Your Old Lady" was composed by Joe Burke, with lyrics written by Al Dubin.
On May 25th 1926 British singer Elsie Carlisle recorded the song accompanied by pianist Carroll Gibbons, creating what would come to be the best known version. Ruth Etting also made a record of the song that year.
Now headed by their second trumpet player James Christie (replacing founding member Johnny Sylvester) the "Original Indiana Five" recorded an abundant array of musical arrangements that would memorably include instrumental jazz renderings of popular songs. An import aspect of this particular performance was the fantastic trombone playing of Pete Pelizzi.
