In this clip from the the 1939 film "Paradise In Harlem", orchestra leader Lucky Millinder announces "original red hot mama" Mamie Smith, who makes a grand entrance singing "Lord, I Love that Man" accompanied by his band.
This was only Mamie's second film appearance, she made her motion picture debut ten years prior in the early sound movie "Jail House Blues".
