Atlanta native Trixie Smith moved to New York to begin a career in show business in 1915 when she was twenty. Initially touring on the T.O.B.A. vaudeville circuit Trixie made her recording debut for the Black Swan label in 1922. She is known best for recordings on which she is accompanied by any one of numerous jazz bands including that of Fletcher Henderson.
