Coot Grant & Kid Wilson
"Vaudevillian Double Entendre"
This record was cut in Chicago in 1931 featuring vaudevillian performers Leola and Wesley Wilson vocals.
The husband and wife team "Coot Grant & Kid Wilson" performed and recorded with top names in jazz including Fletcher Henderson, Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstrong. They were also featured in musical comedies, travelling shows and revues, and in 1933 appeared in the film "Emperor Jones" with the famous singing star Paul Robeson. As the secret to their continued success their songwriting output was certainly just as important as performing. Over the course of their lengthy careers the couple published around four-hundred songs, the most famous of which "Gimme A Pigfoot" became a big hit for Bessie Smith.
