Yes Sir, That's My Baby
Lee Morse & Her Bluegrass Boys
"What a Voice !, What a Girl !"
This record was waxed in New York City on May 7th 1925 featuring Lee Morse vocals, with studio jazz band accompaniment.
*"Yes Sir, That's My Baby" was composed by Walter Donaldson, with lyrics by Gus Kahn.
Jazz singer and songwriter Lee Morse (November 30th 1897 - December 16th 1954) enjoyed her most popular years in the 1920's and early 1930's.
Her professional singing career began around 1917 and continued until her death in 1954.
Miss Morse was known for possessing a deep singing voice which was still able to maintain a wide vocal range.
Among her talents she was also an extremely adept yodeler in addition to being able to provide her own accompaniment on guitar, ukulele, and kazoo.
Lee stood only five foot tall and weighed less than one hundred pounds but "oh boy" could she sing.
Her voice was and unusual however and in fact was considered so deep that her early records were labeled "Miss Lee Morse" apparently so that the record buying public wouldn't mistake her for being a male singer.
Lee Morse was also moderately successful as an actress on the 'Broadway' stage but her career would become increasingly more stifled by alcoholism from 1930 on.
