Growing up outside of New York City in a Hungarian-American household, in East Rutherford, New Jersey Kris Tokarski was first introduced to a blend of classical and Hungarian folk music. After getting his Bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2011 the pianist set his sights on attaining his Masters degree at the University of New Orleans. He recently bought a home there and continues to perform embracing the early piano traditions of The Crescent City. Kris is particularly interested in the music of Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, and Teddy Wilson.
