Leola Wilson
"Introducing Blind Blake"
This recording was produced in Chicago during July of 1926 featuring Leola Wilson vocals, accompanied by "Blind" Arthur Blake guitar.
Going on to record extensively as a guitarist in high demand on a variety of labels prized for his flawless ragtime syncopation and double bass picking technique this side would mark "Blind" Arthur Blake's recording debut.
Often believed to have originally been from Jacksonville, Florida, Arthur "Blind" Blake was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1896 to Winter and Alice Blake. Nothing else is known of Blake until the 1920's when he emerged as a popular blues recording artist.
Over the course of his career between 1926 & 1932 "Blind Blake" would cut around 80 sides for the Paramount label.
