Bohunkus Blues
Blythe's Washboard Band
Feat. Buddy Burton
Recorded in Chicago during May of 1926 with Johnny Dodds clarinet, Jimmy Blythe piano, and W E 'Buddy' Burton washboard & vocal rant.
Like Jimmy Blythe the elder Evans Burton, eleven years his senior, also originally hailed from Kentucky a familiarity which no doubt bolstered their friendship. The two pianists were really tight a fact which must have made it easy for them to produce so many phenomenal records together in Chicago. Burton in addition to being a fine pianist displayed equal proficiency on a number of other instruments including celeste, drums, and washboard.
