Little Willie Blues
Jabbo Smith's Rhythm Aces
"Jabbo Arrives in Chi-Town"
Recorded in Chicago on February 2nd 1929 featuring Jabbo Smith cornet, Omer Simeon clarinet, Earl Frazier piano, Ikey Robinson banjo, and Lawson Buford tuba.
In 1928 Jabbo Smith toured with James P. Johnson's Orchestra and when the show broke up in Chicago he decided to stay. His series of 20 recordings for Brunswick in 1929 with his Rhythm Aces (of which 19 were issued) gained him enough notoriety to be billed as a rival to Louis Armstrong. Unfortunately these records did not sell well enough for Brunswick to extend his contract.
