In this 1941 soundie Hoagy Carmichael sings and plays his composition "Lazybones" with some novelty dance from Dorothy Dandridge and Peter Ray.

*"Lazybones" was composed by Hoagy Carmichael, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.

-Inspiration for the song came one afternoon when Mercer decided to pay Carmichael a visit only to discovered him napping in his New York apartment.

In the film short with an introduction featuring his most famous song "Stardust", Hoagy proceeds to perform a more recent number that he wrote in collaboration with lyricist Johnny Mercer in 1933.

Dorothy Dandridge and Peter Ray appear as a pair of incompetent domestic servants whose multiple attempts to avoid disaster with a serving tray transform into a comedic dance.
