This recording was made in Chicago in February of 1925 featuring Hersal Thomas at the piano.

*"Hersal's Blues" was composed by Hersal Thomas.

Hersal Thomas was the little brother of Sippie Wallace (aka Bulah thomas) and more importantly innovative pianist and composer George W. Thomas. Although twenty-one years his junior, Hersal shared his older brother's gift and made his recording debut for Okeh in 1925.

After achieving success and serving as an early influence to Chicago Boogie-woogie, his promising career came to an abrupt end on June 2nd 1926 when he succumbed to the deadly effects of botulism while headlining at Penny's Pleasure Inn located in Detroit, Michigan.
