Feat. Jesse Stafford

This side was recorded in Los Angeles, California on May 14th 1924 featuring Herb Wiedoeft trumpet, Joseph Nemoli cornet, Jesse Stafford trombone, Fred Bibesheimer and Gene Rose clarinet, alto, & tenor sax, Vincent Rose piano, Jose Sucedo banjo, Gerhardt 'Gay' Wiedoeft tuba, and Adolph Wiedoeft drums.

*"Stack O'Lee Blues" is credited to Ray Lopez and Lew Colwell.

The song actually originated as a Southern folk ballad.

This version however it is not the traditional "Stack O'Lee Blues". The band tries to copy what would have been a possible Jelly Roll Morton arrangement. It starts with a piece of "Weary"/"Farewell"/"Wang-Wang" - "Blues", but oddly has no connection what-so-ever to the original Stagger-Lee. -Stanley King
