Feat. Charlie Blane

Recorded in Los Angeles, California on June 14th 1929 featuring Charlie Blane vocals, Joseph Nemoli cornet, Jesse Stafford trombone & leader, Clyde Lucas trombone, Larry Abbott, Gene Rose, and Fred Bibesheimer clarinet, alto, & tenor sax, Vincent Rose piano, Leon Lucas banjo, Gerhardt 'Gay' Wiedoeft tuba, Adolph Wiedoeft drums.

*"I Don't Want Your Kisses (If I Can't Have Your Love)" was composed by Fred Fisher and Martin Broones.

Directing the band since the untimely May 1928 death of their beloved leader Herb Wiedoeft, trombonist Jesse Stafford started out performing many of the same arrangements. This did not last however and as time went on they began playing and recording more pop numbers targeting a young college audience, drifting slowly astray from their former hot dance glory.

There are three short melophone solos on this record, in the second chorus answering the sax led ensemble, probably played by Stafford. Trumpet and muted trombone are also heard in the same passages. -Dan Weinstein
