George Lewis and his Famous Jazzmen
Live from Preservation Hall
In a 1962 clip filmed at Preservation Hall in New Orleans George Lewis and his "Famous Jazzmen" featuring personnel including Punch Miller trumpet, and Louis Nelson trombone perform for Japanese jazz fans.
Though he was a professional musician since the late 1910s, George's fame started in 1942 as a member of the Bunk Johnson band. This was one of the musical numbers for which Lewis became renowned and many bands, especially those in Europe, have since absorbed it into their repertoire.
