Oh Daddy
Ethel Waters' Jazz Masters
Feat. Fletcher Henderson
Recorded in New York City on March 22nd 1921 featuring Ethel Waters vocals, accompanied by her "Jazz Masters" featuring Fletcher Henderson piano & leader.
*"Oh Daddy" (aka "Oh Daddy Blues") was written by Ed Herbert and William Russell.
Ethel had recorded earlier in the year for her debut on Cardinal Records featuring the songs "The New York Glide" and "At the New Jump Steady Ball". This recording however marks her first release for the African-American owned Black Swan label. It was backed with "Down Home Blues" on the original pressing. These were the first blues numbers to appear on the Black Swan label. -To see a performance of this song by Molly Ryan Click Here.
