Titina
Ben Bernie & All the Lads
DeForest's Sound-on-film
An excerpt from "Ben Bernie and All the Lads" an early sound-film produced and released by Lee DeForest in 1923.
*"Titina" originally titled "Je cherche après Titine" or "I'm looking for Titine", was popular in the dance halls of France during the early 1900's.
Using his revolutionary "Phonofilm" process Lee DeForest captured a full seven minuets of violinist Ben Bernie and his Orchestra (featuring saxophonist Jack Pettis, and Oscar Levant on piano) while they were performing at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York City.
