The Very Thought Of You
Al Bowlly
"Remembering Al Bowlly"
In footage filmed at Pathe Studios in London, England in 1934, Al Bowlly sings a popular hit accompanied by his pianist Monia Litter.
*"The Very Thought of You" was written by Sid Ascher, and published by Ray Noble in 1934. Ascher who initially wrote the song for his wife, reportedly sold the rights to Ray Noble for one-hundred dollars.
Al Bowlly's amazing voice made him a great star in both Britain and the U.S. during the 1930's, acquiring a mass radio following of millions. His career came to a sudden end when he was tragically killed at his home on St. James in London during a Blitz bombing in 1941.
