Alphonse Picou & The New Orleans All Stars
Alphonse Picou Plays Jelly Roll Morton
Legendary clarinetist Alphonse Picou is just one of many important New Orleans musicians who appear in a clip from August 1958 featuring Punch Miller, Percy Humphrey, and Charlie Love trumpets, Jim Robinson trombone, Alphonse Picou and George Lewis clarinets, Eddie Miller tenor sax, Armand Hug piano, George Guesnon banjo, Peter Bocage violin, Alcide Pavageau bass, and Paul Barbarin drums.
Alphonse Picou joins an All-Star group of New Orleans jazz men for an awe-inspiring jam on ("Milenberg Joys" and Mamie's Blues") two famous tunes composed by pianist Jelly Roll Morton during a late '50s television appearance on Art Ford's "Jazz Party".
