Two Guitars
Eddie South & His Alabamians
"Paris, 1929"
This side was cut by "Eddie South's Alabamians" in Paris, France on March 12th 1929 with Eddie South violin & leader, Sterling Conway and Mike McKendrick guitars, Clifford King clarinet, Antonia Spaulding piano, and Jerome Burke drums.
*"Two Guitars" was composed by Apollon Grigoriev.
Written as a musical and lyrical ode to Romance by Russian poet Apollon Grigoriev in the 1830's on this record the tune is performed as a string duet much as its title suggests.
Eddie South toured Europe with his "Alabamians" along with pianist Henry Crowder from 1928 until 1930.
