Feat. Billy Jones

This side was produced in New York City on February 9th 1923 featuring Billy Jones vocals, Phil Napoleon trumpet, Miff Mole trombone, Jimmy Lytell clarinet, Frank Signorelli piano, John Cali banjo, John Helleberg bass brass, and Jack Roth drums.

*"You Tell Her, I Stutter" was composed by Cliff Friend, with lyrics by Billy Rose.

The tune was Friend's first hit, and was recorded to great acclaim by the vocal duo of Billy Jones and Ernest Hare as the "The Happiness Boys".

The "stop-time" chorus is a great early example of Miff Mole's developing style, at a time when very few jazz trombonists were given this kind of recorded opportunity. -(Dan Weinstein)
