Feat. Loren McMurray

Recorded in New York City on September 4th 1922 featuring Phil Napoleon cornet, Miff Mole trombone, Loren McMurray alto sax, Jules Levy banjo, Frank Signorelli piano, and John Cali drums.

*"Blue" was composed by Lou Handman, with lyrics by Grant Clarke and Edgar Leslie.

During the Fall of 1922 Loren McMurray returned to the Gennett recording studio to lead his "California Thumpers". Originally a contingent of the "Eddie Elkins' Orchestra" the group is now comprised of top replacement musicians. The ill-fated saxophonist went on to record this haunting Lou Handman number once more the following month with the "Elkins' Band" just two days before his untimely death.
