This recording was produced in New York City on February 27th 1930 featuring Melvin Herbert trumpet, Henry Goodwin trumpet & violin, Waymon Richardson trombone, Rudy Powell clarinet & alto sax, Earl Evans alto sax, Horace Langhorn tenor sax, Cliff Jackson piano & director, Andy Jackson banjo, Chester Campbell bass brass, and Percy Johnson drums.

*"Desert Blues" was composed by Marvin Smolev, with lyrics by Joe McDaniel.

Originally released on the Grey Gull label some of Jackson's records were also issued billed under the name "Marvin Smolev's Syncopators".

Marvin Smolev was a Tin Pan Alley producer, composer and songwriter who was active in New York during the late '20's and early 1930's.
