If I Had You
Cliff Edwards
"Ukulele Ike"
Recorded in New York City on October 27th 1943 featuring Cliff Edwards (aka "Ukulele Ike") ukulele & vocals, accompanied by Joe Tarto string bass.
*"If I Had You" was written by Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly under their commonly used pseudonym "Irving and Ivor King".
An aging Cliff Edwards sings and strums his way through an up close and personal session from the early 1940's. Although his voice had begun to mature a bit, thanks to vast improvements in recording technology this half whispered vocalization stands as a fitting tribute to the man and his exceptionally wide vocal range.
