Bottomland
Clarence Williams & His Orchestra
"Bottomland Bottoms Out"
This side was recorded in New York City during July 1927 with Ed Anderson cornet, Charlie Irvis trombone, Arville Harris alto sax, Albert Socarras soprano sax, Clarence Williams piano, and Cyrus St. Clair tuba.
Clarence Williams tried his hand at musical theater in 1927, writing the story and most of the music for "Bottomland" a show which he also produced staring his wife Eva Taylor and Sara Martin. In spite of the depths of his efforts the show was not well received. It opened on June 27th 1927 and only ran for twenty-one shows at the Princess Theater located at 104 West 39th Street in New York.
