Brownlee's Orchestra

A white jazz group led by piano and saxophonist Norman Brownlee active in New Orleans from 1920 to 1930. The band is most noted historically for their trumpeter Emmett Hardy who is thought to have been an early influence on Bix Beiderbecke. -Unfortunately when the orchestra was recorded in January of 1925, Hardy was too sick from tuberculosis to perform and died that June.
