In footage captured by Michael Steinman of "Jazz Lives" a jubilant Bob Wilber celebrates his eighty-fourth year at "Smalls Jazz Club", a New York City night spot located at 183 West 10th Street in Greenwich Village.

Well known during the earlier part of his career as a protege of Sidney Bechet, since then Bob Wilber has really blossomed into a phenomenal jazz player in his own right. The legendary reed-man along with his wife Joanne continue to be huge traditional jazz devotees.

On August 4th 2019 Bob Wilber passed away, sadly bringing his life and sensational career to an abrupt yet inevitable end.
