Selvin's Biggest Hit
Recorded in New York City on November 20th 1919 under the direction of Ben Selvin.
*"Dardanella" was composed by Felix Bernard and Johnny S. Black, with lyrics by Fred Fisher.
The oriental love ballad set to music written by Bernard and Black in 1919 would be among the first songs recorded by twenty-two year old violinist and band conductor Ben Selvin and also proved to be his biggest success. The song dominated the number one spot on the U.S. charts for thirteen weeks and initially sold an incredible one million copies.
